You see, last week, I joined up with some friends for a round of the Game On Challenge. It's a way to incorporate healthy habits into your life, with the motivation factor of some friendly competition. (I did this last year, and you can read a little more about that, here.) I get points for drinking water, but in order to earn those points
I have to drink 3 liters every day!
That is approximately 101 ounces. Which, for me, equates to about 101 trips to the bathroom each day.
Okay, I'm kidding about that. But, really, for me, 3 liters is a lot of water. I'm just not one of those gals who carries her water bottle with her everywhere she goes. I rarely drink from public drinking fountains. And when we go to a restaurant, I'm the only person at the table who doesn't need a refill. I just don't drink much of anything.
I know, I know, that isn't something I should brag about. I'm just lucky I haven't had any kidney stones yet, right? I've probably been on the verge of dehydration for most of my life. Obviously, increasing my daily intake of water is a good thing. But 3 liters is sooooo much.
The other day, right after polishing off my first liter, I took Superkid to a movie. Do you know how many times I had to drag Superkid out of the theater so that I could use the restroom? Four times: twice before the movie started, once during the movie, and once immediately after the movie ended!
(Too much information? Sorry.)
So tell me, water drinking blog-readers out there, how do you survive? This is my first full week of 3 liters per day. Is my bladder going to adjust? Am I going to start seeing the benefits of a dewy complexion and increased energy anytime soon? Am I ever going to actually enjoy drinking all this water?
FYI #1: I rarely ever drink soda, either. I kind of wish I had a soda habit, only because I'm always hearing people say that they lost 30 pounds when they quit drinking soda. I'm sure it isn't easy for them, but goodness, I wish that was all I had to do!
FYI #2. According to the National Institute for Health, you can safely drink up to 8 liters of water a day. I checked, hoping they would tell me a number less than three.
Alright, enough complaining! I need to go chug some water. Bon Voyage!
I was SO hoping someone would comment a genius way of drinking more water. It must be that everyone who has read this post struggles to drink enough water as well.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to drink more water as well. And like you, I don't drink soda.
Hope you have another post on this subject.

Love your blog, and I also have a drinking (ok well not drinking)problem. I know I don't drink enough but I'm not sure how to drink THAT much water. I'm glad I'm not alone.
