Game On! Update

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Boy, I'm not sure why this week has been so busy.  Looking back, I don't feel like I've accomplished anything very spectacular.  Wait--I did do something out of the ordinary.  I went shopping, for me, for clothing, at retail stores.  Not thrift, not outlet--actual retail.  I actually went to the mall.  You know times are really tough when I head to the mall.  Have I told you that I really don't like to shop?  Yes, the Bionic Man is truly blessed.

And I went and got my hair done.  I like doing that.  I never do it as frequently as I should, but I do like getting my hair done.  I went someplace new and I think that I've finally found a hairstylist that I like, after 5-1/2 years of living here.  Personally, I find that a new 'do is extremely therapeutic.

And now, for a Game On!  update.  (Which is pretty late....considering the challenge ended a month ago.  How lame am I?)  Over the course of the four week challenge, I lost a total of 10 pounds!  Yay me!

And then I fell off the wagon.....because none of my teammates wanted to keep playing.  (Yeah, yeah, blame the team....)  I've kept most of the 10 pounds off, but even though I'm not necessarily eating a bunch of crazy stuff, it is just hard for me to keep up the healthy habits without a team to answer to.  Apparently, I am extremely motivated by guilt.

I'd love to get some teams together and keep on playing.....so if anyone out there is even remotely interested, let me know.  Leave a comment or email me.  You can read more about Game On!  here and here.

In the meantime, while I may have fallen off the diet wagon, I have managed to step up my exercise.  Noting that 10 pounds lost didn't seem to change the way my arms and shoulders looked, I needed to step up my workouts.  I had a conquer-my-fears moment and signed up to work one-on-one with a trainer for a few weeks.  Yesterday was my first session, and I loved it!  My trainer is super nice, and I totally appreciated the fact that she didn't sigh and look immediately discouraged when we met.  I also appreciated the fact that she didn't let me wimp out.  I'm excited to see if what kind of difference a few sessions makes in improving the workouts I do on my own.

Totally boring post, I know.  I don't even have before and after shots of the hair or the missing 10 pounds for you, today.  Lame, lame.

  2. Ruth! Did you see our Mad March challenge on facebook? What was the "Game On!" challenge you did? I think we need to come up with another challenge for April. I too am motivated by guilt and peer pressure. It's sad.
