Plans

I had big plans last week.  Plans that extended into this week.  After all, it was the first full week of 2011.  Not having big plans would be--well, it would practically be un-American not to start a new year with big plans.

So I had big plans.  Plans that involved organization and redecoration and revolutionary discipline tactics and radical lifestyle changes and the implementation of amazing new habits.

2011 was all set to be the year that defined my life.

So, on Monday, January 4th, I awoke at 5:30 a.m.  (Radical lifestyle changes and implementation of amazing new habits, check.)  I put the children to work cleaning closets and sorting laundry.  (Organization, check.)  Things were going well, very well.

On Tuesday, January 5th, I awoke at 5:25 a.m.  I washed a full sink of dishes before anyone else was awake.  (I'm going to count that as redecoration.....so, redecoration, check.)  It was the first day back to school for my children, so I pulled out the bentos that I had packed the night before (again, amazing new habit) and, thanks to the use of positive, proactive planning, had all the children ready 15 minutes before departure time with smiles on their faces.  (Revolutionary discipline tactics, check.)

I got everyone out the door and realized that I FELT HORRIBLE.

I was sick with some kind of evil virus that began with nausea and searing back pain and evolved into a sore throat, runny nose, and a cough.  It hit me hard, and it knocked me low.   All plans were cancelled and the only redecorating I did was moving the heating pad from my bed to the couch.  Revolutionary discipline tactics evolved into, "Mommy will pay you a quarter if you will make your own peanut butter and jelly sandwich."

The rest of 2011 (so far) was a wash.  A complete wash.

Finally, after sleeping for most of Sunday, I started to feel a little better.  I was convinced things would be better on Monday, January 10th.

Until Superkid woke up with a sore throat, runny nose, and a cough.

That is why before 2012, I'm going to move here
or here.
There.  Now I have a new plan, so 2011 is good to go.

Yay for goals and plans!
